Yesterday Culver CityBus launched a new service – the Rapid 6!
The Rapid 6 serves the same route as the regular Line 6 with these differences:
- Extended route to Metro Green Line Station
- Fewer stops along route
- Only available during M-F commute hours
This is an awesome service for the UCLA community as many commuters coming up from the South Bay or out east had to take a train to a bus to a bus to get on campus!
One particular UCLA staff member had taken a bus to a train to a bus to a bus for several years for a one-way commute from his home to UCLA. The new Rapid 6 service will allow him to take one less bus, shaving quite a few minutes off his daily commute. Check back next week to find out what he thinks about the new service.

Have you given the new service a ride? How has the new Rapid 6 affected your commute?

I have been saying “Rapid 6! Rapid 6!” to Juan since this past Monday. Can’t wait to try it out.
I know a couple of people who’ve taken it and they say it’s great! The drivers are very helpful and it really does save them time.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, I rode the Rapid 6 instead of the BBB Super 12. The Rapid 6 is my choice from now on for going home in the evenings. The obvious improvement is the relief from overly crowded southbound buses from UCLA. Nearly everyone can have a seat, and when departing, no one has to squeeze through people, packages and luggage. Now its safer conditions because no one will trip and fall and people won’t be shouting “back door” requiring the driver to stop again for someone who couldn’t get to the exit in time. A very important improvement is that during flu season, the extra breathing room means a healthier environment for all. It’s wonderful.
For me, the new route shaves off a good 15 minutes from UCLA to Pico and Sepulveda because of its nonstop service from Westwood and Wilshire to Sepulveda and Santa Monica. Bus operators don’t have to worry about delays to their schedule waiting for pedestrians crossing after the “no walk” signals at Wilshire and Westwood and no more driving across several lanes of heavy traffic to reach the left lane at Westwood Sepulveda. It’s a win-win for everyone. I love it.
